Global Cooling & Ice Ages

Ice Ages are the norm for planet Earth, what we are now experiencing is merely a temporary interglacial that is well overdue to revert back to Ice Age.
Life on Earth is very dependant on the warming effect received from the Sun, animal and plant life has always thrived on the benefits of a suitably warmed planet.
On the other hand, the results of living on a cooler Earth are very detrimental to most forms of life. The previous enroachment of Ice Sheets over the continents has forced humans to abandon their abodes, this will happen again sooner or later.

Temperatures

Temperatures have been generally measured at land based points near cities, most cities have grown in size increasing the heat island effect of additional concrete and asphalt etc.
Also apparent is the fact that 70% of our planet is covered by Oceans.
