Real Jobs are essential to the wealth and prosperity of a Nation,
Examples of Real Jobs are Farming and Manufacturing, because they produce something of value that did not exist before,
whereas,
Service Industries such as Motels, Plumbers, Transport etc merely shuffle existing money from one to another without creating.
As do jobs in Politics, Law, Commerce, the Public Service and especially Banking!
Real Jobs in the farming sector have been decimated by the onslaught of Globalisation and its precursors, in 1970 there were 251,881 farmers in Australia, because of Trade Agreements including the Lima Declaration there were only 100,000 in 1996, a rather sad achievement for Party Politics and the NFF.
The causative debt crisis that has delivered valuable farming properties into the hands of the private banks reaped further gains when the highest bidders would often repeat the cycle of bankruptcy.
Likewise Real Jobs in manufacturing have been thoroughly destroyed by Government legislation including lack of Tariff protection that means that the Foreign manufacturer contributes nothing towards the ever diminishing Tax burden.
Most of the Real Jobs that were once the backbone of the country have been exported offshore where the Wealth earned is no longer of any benefit to the people of Australia, what is left are the Service Jobs, Shopkeepers, and servants of Foreign Ownership, none of which is capable of sustaining the Tax Burden that used to cope despite the ongoing plunder of Foreign Investment.
The dispossesed that once made their living with Farming, Manufacturing and Small Businesses that used to create wealth and prosperity for the Nation, now mainly languish on Social Security whereas once they all contributed to the Nations Tax Income.

The transition from Affluence to Austerity has only taken a few decades, we now have a new generation where many will never experience the dignity of employment.
Paul Keating's slur of Banana Republic now rings true!
