Once upon a time Australia was the Lucky Country, with no unemployment, and trade figures that were in balance, without the millstone of Foreign Debt, and, with Farming and Industry occupying a very large share of the employment pool.
This situation existed well beyond the post war period with families only requiring the one breadwinner, and with children being quite confident of not only getting a job, but one within ones chosen career.
And the number of Australian owned Icons was impressive!
With Aussie owned industry churning out Cars, Whitegoods, Textiles, Footwear, Foodstuffs, Electrical, etc. and of course many Aussie owned support and service industries such as Engineering, Casting, Transport etc. and of course endless apprentices in service trades to support our own Wealth producing base.
We truly were a great Nation with a great measure of Affluence!
By the 1970s it would appear that Australia had really become a prospering Nation in full control of its own affairs, economics and sovereignty.
Whereas in actual fact, because the Money Power was in full control behind the scenes, all endeavour, risk, enterprise and investment were merely to harness the Nation towards the end goal of Foreign Takeover.
Agents of the Money Power have carefully plotted and steered the course towards economic capitulation. By placing agents within Parliament and Treasury, by subverting the Nation from sharing in the creation of Money with the destruction of the CommonWealth Bank, by committing Australia towards economic suicide with International Agreements to undermine homegrown Industry, by Deregulating the Australian Economy thus exposing it to the vagaries of the World Economy, and by granting many benefits for Foreign Investment to disadvantage local enterprise.
Additionally, by concealing all this from the people with lies, statistics, non-disclosure, secrecy, and of course a very compliant Media and supportive Think Tanks that all owe allegiance and favours to Global Capital, the people of Australia have not realised that Economic Conquest is under way let alone know how it has happened.
Even now that the conquest is almost finalised, most of the too trusting people fail to perceive what has taken place, such is the power of de-education, propaganda, and the ability to put it on the slate.
What better measure of Affluence is there than actually owning outright the ability to derive a living, without the fettering of Debt!
Present Australia has been thoroughly divested of the birthright of Affluence as Foreign Ownership continues its insidious expansion.

Despite this above list being far from complete, one can imagine the Affluence that used to accrue to the Nation when ownership was vested within the Nation.
The employment provided and also the tax payed has been lost or minimised because Foreign Ownership is not compelled by the same taxation requirements, this taxation difference is the main reason why Australian Ownership was not viable.
While we consider the effect of viable, homegrown or locally owned employment, we must also realise the difference that Real Jobs can make to a Nations Affluence.
